The Queen Elizabeth Scholarship Trust (QEST) is a charity that funds the training and education of talented and aspiring craftspeople, supporting the UK’s cultural heritage and sustaining vital skills in traditional and contemporary crafts. Since 1990, QEST has supported 800 makers in 130 different craft disciplines. In addition to financial support, the charity provides alumni with business masterclasses and opportunities for exhibitions, collaborations and commissions through QEST’s networks and partnerships. QEST has also established programmes to inspire a new generation of professional craftspeople. This year’s exhibition explores colour, movement and texture. Through the skilful manipulation of their materials, makers have created seemingly free-flowing shapes or precise, sometimes geometric forms which make a strong statement but retain playful qualities.
