Throughout our 50-year history the Crafts Council have presented numerous exhibitions that shine a spotlight on contemporary craft and its makers. We draw extensively on our Collection to produce exhibitions, working with a wide range of curators, designers & film-makers to produce high-quality and thoughtful explorations of craft. These have included:
The Power of Making - an exhibition curated by Daniel Charny in 2011 in partnership with the V&A
Acts of Making - a touring festival that celebrated and explored contemporary craft through performance, ephemeral practice and live installations in locations including Plymouth, Gateshead and Wolverhampton.
What is Luxury? - an exploration of the relationship between craft and luxury in 2015 in partnership with the V&A
States of Play - a Crafts Council and Hull 2017 Partnership Exhibition, supported by the British Council, which shows how play shapes our lives and the world around us
Exhibitions that are currently available to visit around the country can be found in our What’s On section.
Exhibitions that are available to hire are detailed below.
Increasingly we work in partnership with venues and organisations that want to showcase craft. If you would like to explore a partnership opportunity with us then please drop us a line at exhibitions@craftscouncil.org.uk
