Huw Phillips ceramics Ceramic Designer Stoke-on-Trent, England
Huw first became interested in clay at 16 when he enrolled on a pottery evening class. From there he was inspired by the versatile and tactile quality of clay and went on to study ceramic design in Stoke on Trent. Huw’s current work is hand-thrown. The finished pots are burnished with white slip. The pots are saggar fired creating marks and colours from the saggar firing. The pots are wrapped in wire, leaves, string, salt, and seaweed, to give various surface marks and patterns from the saggar.
