Over Sea Over There (Part 1 – The Darkness)Collection of woven silk hangings, various sizes (Maximum 240 x 80cms)
Woven during a period of trauma and recalling the dangers, depth and power of the ocean, I draw here on memories and on recent experiences to create textiles of sorrow, pain, anger, darkness and despair.
Waiting (detail) Over Sea Over There (Part 2 - The Light)Woven silk hanging - 250 x 80cms
Marking the passing of time as if in open waters but barely progressing. Though the use of slowly changing shades of counted silk threads, gradually a lighter place and mood obtains.
Mist Rises (detail) - Over Sea Over There (Part 2 - The Light)Hand coloured woven silk hanging - 100 x 80cms
Here the mist is rising and the troubled mind clearing. This work depicts early morning sun breaking through a damp morning in Galway Bay.
Peace Shawl (detail) - Over Sea Over There (Part 2 - The Light) After The LightWoven silk shawl - 230 x 80cms
Soft, single colour and loosely-woven, here, a calming sea rocks us gently as the shawl envelops us. There is peace. There is respite. There are sandwaves on the seashore and all is well.
