Doily Free Zone is an international symposium about lace in contemporary art & design. The 2021 edition features presentations by 16 artists and designers from 10 countries and a programme of 11 workshops to change the way you think about lace.
Over the weekend of 12-13 June there will be a global conversation about handmade lace in art & design. The question “Why Make Lace?” lies at the heart of the event as in today’s fast-paced world there are many quicker, easier ways to make art, and yet these dedicated artists from around the world choose to work with these meticulous techniques and the stories behind their work are fascinating.
Registration for the symposium includes attendance of the live webinar sessions, access to the recordings and a copy of the beautiful 2021 digital catalogue.
For those who are curious to learn how to make lace or to extend their lacemaking skills we have also produced a collection of online workshops taught by some of the world's most innovative lace artists.
Registration for the symposium & Lace Camp costs US $239.
