As schools and students prepare for a return to school in September, Crafts Council is gathering a group of teachers, craftspeople and academics to discuss, debate and ideate the Future of Craft Education.
Events of the past six months have seen huge challenges and dramatic shifts in our educational landscape, offering an opportunity to rethink and reframe; the time is right to come together to collaborate on next steps. This event will focus on the role of craft and creativity in Covid-19 education recovery, and consider approaches to anti-racism within craft education.
The day will focus on three key themes, with each including guest speakers and time to discuss, digest and plan for positive change in our educational institutions:
- Recovery – craft as a tool for rethinking a return to school
- Developing an anti-racist approach to craft education
- Craft as a cross-curricular bridge
