The Queen Elizabeth Scholarship Trust (QEST) supports excellence in British craftsmanship by funding the training and education of talented and aspiring makers. Since 1990, QEST has awarded £5.2 million to 650 makers working across the UK in 130 craft disciplines. In addition to financial support, the charity provides business masterclasses and opportunities for exhibitions, collaborations and commissions through QEST’s networks and partnerships. The curated exhibition Material Masters showcases works in a range of materials – a snapshot of the broad selection of crafts the charity supports – and investigates what has drawn each maker to their material as well as the role of QEST in each of their journeys to becoming a material master.
