Jo Fairfax has created a collection of personal and instinctive sculptural interpretations of Carl Jung’s 12 archetypes. Jung suggested that the following characteristics form the collective subconscious: Hero. Magician. Innocent. Lover. Caregiver. Orphan. Rebel. Ruler. Explorer. Creator. Sage. Jester. These sculptures encourage us to consider what combination of archetypes we are and what traits we might share with others. The principle of shared characteristics gently suggests an interconnectedness between us all. This is a very good time to contribute to the idea of commonality rather than separation. The figurines are made using a 3D printer as a creative tool, combining biosourceable cornstarch 3D-printed components with hand crafting, putty, paint, bespoke decals, varnish and wax.
