Then she invited 65 women representing the cities in Syria, gathering overtime at Su's initiative workshop to take part in this collaborative process of creation, mending and reflection. Collectively, they embroidered 3,700 Swarovski crystals, the distance in km from London to Aleppo, forming one of the 6 Arabic letters of السلام (Al-Salam), The Peace. Carpet -workshop, Esna SuSu completed the piece using the traditional Middle-eastern techniques of a carpet called “Hasir” which involves constant weaving.
