This is the Frida Tehuana Necklace. This necklace is part of a collection of jewellery comissioned by the V&A Museum for theParrot Brooch, Iris De La TorreThis is the parrot brooch and it was inspired by Frida Kahlo’s Parrot pets and her use of birds in her paintings. However, my approach to design this brooch was to represent Frida in the form of a colourful parrot with rainbow wings, free to live without physical pain and health restrictions. This brooch is part of a collection of jewellery comissioned by the V&A Museum for Frida Kahlo: Making Herself Up Exhibition.Frida Butterfly Brooch, Iris De La TorreThis piece features the face of Frida Kahlo with her big blue butterfly head piece. When designing this brooch, I took reference from her use of symbolism in her fashion and her painting style: Frida had a beautiful Butterfly headpiece and and in her painting called “Portrait with Thorn Necklace and Hummingbird” - Frida is wearing 2 butteflies on her hair which may of have made reference to how Christian religion sees the butterfly as a symbol of resurrection. Frida pianted this piece just after her divorce from Diego Rivera. This brooch is part of a collection of jewellery comissioned by the V&A Museum for Frida Kahlo: Making Herself Up.Frida with Sunglasses BroochThis is the Frida with Sunglasses brooch. This piece features the face of Frida Kahlo, her elegant long neck with her stylish gold and yellow sunglasses and red lips. Frida was very thoughtful in the way she chose to dress and when designing this brooch, I imagined Frida with her jet-black hair tied back, walking on the sand of a Mexican beach wearing her beautiful green bathing suit and sunglasses. This is a design comissioned by the V&A Museum for the Frida Kahlo Exhition: Making Herself Up.Frida's Charm Necklace, Iris De La TorreThis is Frida’s Charms Necklace.
