During this time, I rediscovered using the pottery wheel and the joy of seeing friends using objects I had produced. Throwing clay on the potter’s wheel is my passion due to the process and the ability it gives me to make work that people can use. The connection that my art will be used is as important as the making process. I was in their Leisure and Gift tent, and an elegant female browsed my stall and asked if I made a large pitcher. She stated that she had been looking for one for a while, and it seemed that other potteries didn’t make them. The dance of designing and creating objects that customers have inspired is a massive motivating experience for me as I enjoy making items that will be useful and customer-led.A Versatile Jug16/05/2024The large jug, a versatile serving vessel, was initially designed to complement my wine beakers. The idea was to create a set that could serve various drinks at summer gatherings or intimate dinners, a testament to its practicality. The Water or Wine Gift Set, introduced in September 2023, includes a large jug and six 175 ml beakers, offering various serving options for different occasions.A Charming Gift: A Set of Two 150 ml Coffee Cups16/04/2024These handmade coffee mugs hold 150 ml of your favourite coffee. They measure 7 cm wide and 6.3 cm high. The roomy handles, made in a complementary colour, give the cup its depth at 11.6 cm. The handle is 4.6 cm and perfect for any hand. They are a lovely cup to hold, whether using the handle or just nestled in your hand. This hand-crafted pottery has a refined, tactile surface reminiscent of a sandy stone beach. The fine rim makes drinking from this cup a pleasure. The Experimental Container: The Story of the Medium Vase.14/03/2024I love having flowers and collections of dried foliage in my home, so I wanted to create a vase that could be added to the table or shelf that would carry the beauty of the British Landscape and then could be enhanced with a bunch of freshly cut blooms from your garden or display a wild collection of natural stems collected on a summer walk. The Perfect Gift: The Story of the Gravy Jug21/02/2024I was first commissioned to make a Gravy Jug in December 2018; the lovely Joanne Kent from Royal Oak Furniture in Grassington, a beautiful furniture shop in the Yorkshire Dales, was selling my work and a customer of theirs asked if I could make a 500 ml Gravy Jug. I had been making my 500 ml breakfast cups for a few months and thought I could adapt the design for a Gravy Boat. I photographed the Sandy Beige Jug in February 2019, packaged it up and sent it to its new home in the beautiful part of England. The Mediative Cup: The Story of the Large Beaker31/01/2024Designing and making objects that people will enjoy using has been such a delight over the last seven years. Receiving feedback and photos of how customers use my unique tableware brings me joy. The Large Beaker was one of my first items and one of my top three items on Etsy in 2020, selling seventy-four beakers in that year alone. The most popular colour was my Pale Blue-Grey. Its gentle tones reflect the winter sky, bringing hope as we enjoy the quieter winter months before the joy of Spring bursts through. All my packaging is sustainably sourced. I aim to create as little waste as possible in my making process. I fire with an electric kiln. I strive to develop functional tableware that is timeless and can be enjoyed for a lifetime.AboutIn 2016, I began to add colour to the clay body, allowing the object's colour to be an integral part of the making process and influence the form of the item being made.
