I am discovering the infinite ways of creating pattern with weave and finding that the process of working with materials directly from the land opens up a much richer relationship for me with my practise. Geometry, balance and universal patterns all infuse into my work. Alongside this I teach basketmaking as a therapeutic craft at a college for young people with additional needs. Focus:Willow baskets, bags and lightingCommissions:Available for commissionsWillow is the perfect sustainable material. It grows well here in the UK and willow harvesting offers a seasonal connection with the outdoors. Once harvested, the dried bundles keep for years in the shed and can be brought out and soaked when needed. Workshop scraps make perfect kindling bundles. When a basket has lived its life (most of my baskets will outlive me!) it can go back on the compost heap. A basket is the best 'bag for life'.
