Collect Open at Collect Art Fair 2025
25th February – 2nd March 2025
Michelle is one of ten selected artists creating and showing new work for Collect Open at Collect Art Fair 2025. Celebrating What Remains – (What you Stole from Me), is a textile project by Michelle House for Collect Open about her mother and Alzheimer’s. Her hand-printed and stitched works remember items made by her mother as acts of love for family and home. Remembering all the things her mother made, that she no longer remembered – a legacy of textiles passed on, with colour and its power to uplift and evoke emotion at its core. The work is a celebration of colour and pattern in defiance of the disease and inspired by memories of homemade clothes and her mother’s multi-coloured knitting needle collection, combined with fabric from her hand-made curtains – now used again for Collect Open.
