We felt that Gill Sekatawa fully embraced Make First and successfully enabled her learners to take risks, develop ideas through making and create personal and meaningful artworks. She did this through:
- setting a very open brief for their learners which enabled them to make in ways that they enjoyed and were individually drawn to
- encouraging them to use whatever materials they could find in as inventive a way as possible
- encouraging challenge and risk taking
- working with families and homes to support the programme and the learners' making journeys
- engaging with organisations outside of the school to bring added value to the project
