Crafts Council has a strong track record of working with schools, teachers, maker educators and pupils to deliver craft in the classroom, including a legacy of programmes such as Firing Up (2010-2013) and Make Your Future (2016-2020) and our current national craft challenge for learners aged 5-16, Craft School. Our work promoting everyday making and craft as integral to providing social value has seen a host of programmes that focus on grassroots delivery including, Hey Clay (2015-2021), Craft Club (2009-2020), Make, Shift, Do (2015-2019), Crafting with Pride (2022-2025) and currently Young Craft Citizens.
This role combines direct delivery with strategy and advocacy - championing craft as a lifelong right to be experienced and enjoyed by all. The post holder will steward the team forward, empowering them to deliver ground-breaking projects and ensuring that activity is robustly evaluated so that the needs of our communities are always being addressed.
This hands-on knowledge will drive advocacy and strategic development work. You will maintain our wide range of partnerships, develop new relationships and seek platforms for our work to be fed into external policy-shaping discussions.
