Description
Background: We are a foundry in Birmingham specialising in bronze and brass. We make sculpture, lighting, brass parts, and a wide variety of small to medium sized objects. We have a wide range of customers, from artists and galleries, to corporations and businesses.
You will be primarily based in the wax shop producing waxes by hand and using small machinery. This task is the beginning of the lost wax process and you will be integral to the production process. We offer in-house training for all tasks and encourage applications from people who enjoy working with their hands and producing high quality pieces.
Role: Preparing moulds. Injecting or pouring wax into moulds. Demoulding waxes. Cleaning waxes. Preparing sprues for plaster investment. Mixing plaster and pouring plaster investment. Other wax shop, plaster investment, and foundry assistance as required.

Person: Excellent attention to detail. Consistent and well paced to produce work in a timely manner while adhering to quality standards. Independent and proactive. A creative problem solver who enjoys thinking about how to make physical objects.
Experience: Experience working in a foundry or similar business is desirable but not essential. Working with your hands in a craft discipline. Experience working with mouldmaking, sculpture, lighting, or similar work would be beneficial.
Details: £12 - £12.50 per hour depending on experience 39 hours per week, full time permanent position Statutory holiday time. Company pension scheme. Immediate start.
Hours: Mon - Thurs 8.00am to 4.30pm Friday 8.00am to 3.30pm
