With the climate crisis becoming ever-more urgent, a growing number of creatives believe that simply designing sustainably is not enough. Instead, they seek to reverse the harm humanity has done to the planet. In this talk chaired by former Crafts editor Malaika Byng, we get to know some of the trailblazers of regenerative design that, through their respective crafts, are finding new ways to nurture the environment.
The panel includes Mexico-based designer Fernando Laposse and New York-based textile artist Shradha Kochhar, who are both endeavouring to reintroduce indigenous crops to damaged lands. They’ll be accompanied by Carole Collet, a professor in design for sustainable futures at Central Saint Martins and founder of its upcoming master’s degree in regenerative design.
