Join members of the Young Craft Citizens Group as they take over a teacher CPD for Black History Month
Crafts Council will be hosting online creative craft event for teachers and learning practitioners from 4-5.30pm on the 23rd of November as a part of our Black History Month series of workshops. In this session we will explore the need for structural change in the crafts sector and in craft, art and design curriculums. This is part of a CPD series in support of Craft School: Yinka’s Challenge and which is under-pinned by The National Society for Education in Art & Design's (NSEAD) Anti-Racist checklist. We will be discussing how teachers can create a more inclusive learning environment for Black students and opportunities to decolonize the curriculum. This event will involve critical and reflective thinking towards teaching and learning craft.
We will be exploring three key themes throughout the event; anti-racism, accountability and empowerment. We will be hearing from two guest speakers and using a craft activity to support the exploration of these themes.
