Neurodiversity as a Superpower! This online session will focus on navigating neurodiversity within designers and craftspeople, on 14 March from 7 - 8.30pm via Zoom.
Artist, educator and new Design-Nation Ambassador Jo Cope is an advocate and supporter of others with dyslexia and neurodivergent conditions; she describes these as superpowers that can be used for extra creative advantage.
In Jo’s own practice, she considers being dyslexic as a bonus, allowing her to create an alternative powerful visual language that can speak in far more layers than words. For those with dyslexia or other neurodivergent conditions (diagnosed or suspected), this session will investigate the strengths and challenges, and enable you to begin a conversation about support and project opportunities.
This online session is part of an exciting programme within Design-Nation's current exhibition, Our Journey. The exhibition's three themes are excellence, sustainability and diversity, capturing important milestones in the evolution of DN’s portfolio of leading contemporary designer-makers from across the UK. It is a showcase of diverse material-led practices, emphasising excellence and beauty of design and craftsmanship, and highlights the sector’s increasingly committed focus on innovative ways to address sustainability and embrace ethical making.
