Hand Build and decorate an original ceramic object with Zeba Imam at Spode Works, Stoke-on-Trent.
Together you’ll use mark-making techniques like sgraffito to tell stories in clay, before firing and glazing your piece. Your piece will be available for collection two to three weeks after the workshop. All experience levels welcome, suitable for creatives aged 12 years and older.
In this three-hour workshop you will:
- Find out more about Zeba Imam’s work, her ideas and how she makes her pieces
- Experiment with techniques including slip decoration and sgraffito
- Handbuild and decorate a ceramic piece
‘Zeba says 'My work is inspired by the marks of human activity all around us. Bustling cityscapes, old and new jostling for space, timeworn aspects of an industrial building, casual graffiti. They convey the universal human wish to be seen and to communicate: I am/was here.' - Zeba Imam

About the British Ceramics Biennial
British Ceramics Biennial (BCB) is an arts organisation based in Stoke-on-Trent, the UK’s home of ceramics. Every two years, we hold a festival celebrating contemporary ceramic practice. In addition to the festival – BCB has built up a programme of artist residencies, fellowships, commissions, education, health and community projects running year-round. These programmes enhance, complement and form part of the festival.
