Transform humble paper into an eye-catching piece of textural art for your wall. Learn how to colour, cut, fold and bend your paper to create a series of fringed and looped pieces that are assembled to create your final composition.
This workshop will be led by Sinéad, part artist, part designer, part educator. Sinead's work explores structure and surface through the manipulation of traditional techniques to create sculptural forms that play with the idea of concealing and revealing. Multi-disciplinary and focused on constructed textile methods, Sinead specialises in three-dimensional design and hand embellishment.
Using simple materials and methods that are accessible to everyone, this online session will teach you how to make an exquisite piece of textural art. Techniques will be demonstrated using a mixture of live and pre-recorded step-by-steps to give you the best insight possible. There will also be a chance to ask questions as you go along.
Participants will need the following material and equipment:
- Thick paper (or thin card) in a neutral colour - any sizes to make your components
- Thick paper (or card) in a neutral colour to use as your background
- A3 or A4 Scissors
- Pencil/pen
- Stapler Glue (pva/superglue/other paper glue that can be applied with precision using the applicator or a cocktail stick)
- Sellotape
- Drawing media – pencil or fine liner or dip pen & ink for example.
Optional:
Prior to the workshop you may have time to add colour to some of your component papers using a range of painted or inky colours. You may also choose to use mark making techniques to add repetitive patterns on to the coloured backgrounds. This will add interest and beautiful details to your final composition.
Don’t worry if you do not have time to do this as you can work with plain paper to learn the collaging techniques. If you would like information on this please email sineadmerry@gmail.com or get in touch via Instagram @formedandadorned
