Niela Nell Kalra founded her contemporary knitwear label in Shetland, in 2008. Visit the studio to discover the surprising stories and inspiration behind the designs.
Often described as wearable art, Nielanell knitwear is made in limited editions from luxurious, fine yarns. Some colourways are only made once: the studio is a paradise for lovers of colour and texture and is situated in the pretty coastal village of Hoswick on Shetland's South Mainland.
An incorrigible maker, Niela is also a spinner who makes hand-dyed art yarn. Skeins of handspun yarn can be found nestling amongst the knitwear collections and other interesting artefacts (including works in glass—another passion!). During Shetland Wool Week (25 September - 3 October) we are open daily, except for Wednesday 29 September.
Opening times:
- Mon-Saturday 10am-4pm (closed Wed 29th)
- Sunday 11am-4pm
