Craft enthusiast aged 16-30 are invited to join the conversation around Black History Month with the Young Craft Citizens
Young Craft Citizens (YCC) members Kulthum Abdul-Aziz and Louise Hall present Black History Month Youth Takeover - an evening event curated as part of their Gallery Event Production Placement at the Crafts Council.
To celebrate Black History Month this event at the Crafts Council Gallery will platform Black artists and aims to discuss culture, identity and importantly dual-identity reflecting on what makes us who we are. The event will be centred around collaboration, making and food.
The panel discussion will commence at 6:45 PM sharp with a number of fantastic speakers, including;
- Aliyah Hasinah - Founder of the Black Curatorial Platform.
- Joke Amusan - Practising artist based in the UK.
- Khadija Niang - Practising artist and member of the Black Women Art Network.
- Tyreis Holder - Artist, Poet, visual storyteller and textile set maker.
- Stella Kajombo - Practising artist based in London.
The panel discussion will be followed by a weaving workshop, hosted by Stella Kajombo and Joke Amusan. In this workshop, you will have a chance to explore different fabrics and yarns to create a small woven creation.
