Visually inspired by archeological relics from the Middle East and the aesthetics of visionary design, Uriel Caspi creates an array of ceramic fragments of the post-human body. The work investigates the familiar anatomy and uncanny organs scaffolded with a geometrical grid, and reveals the oscillation of the form and the matter within a restrained space. Resembling anthropomorphic organs and structures, slip-casted ceramic objects are glazed in an iridescent, reflective Arabian lustre glaze, formulated with precious earth metals. Compulsively researching and mastering the ancient technique of lustreware, Caspi's sculptural objects reflect aesthetics from antiquity and visionary environments from the future at the very same time.
