SCAPES
These are works in progress; a development from both the Horizon mobiles and the Soles.
Larger turned pieces make for bigger landscapes and finishing the wood by scorching, ebonising and fuming all provide different textures and energies to our depictions of moments of solitude in the world.

Scape 1., StudioLoganHowesLathe turned base in French Oak; scorched finish. Hand carved bog oak trees and tiny building in brown oak are planted into the turned discus.
Scape 1., StudioLoganHowesPhotographed from above, in bright sunlight, to show the textures of the scorched finish of Scape1. Shadows of the tiny bog oak trees are cast across the landscape.
Scape 2, StudioLoganHowesLathe turned French Oak base with hand carved sycamore figure and hand carved spalted sycamore rocks. This work suggests a beachscape; the grain of the oak alluding to sweeping sands. The lone figure's gaze searches beyond the boundary of the base.
Scape 2, StudioLoganHowesLathe turned base displaying a SLH vanishing edge. Purposefully shaping to the finest periphery we hint at an endlessness of the land, while finding a balanced frame for the elements above it.
