Why and who do we collect? What should the national collection for craft be like in future?
We’re inviting the public to get to know the national collection for craft as we rediscover it ourselves, through a three-year collections audit as part of our Craft for the People project.
Kicking off the audit and inspired by the trend for ‘unboxing’ videos, we’re asking you to vote for your favourite of ten objects. Everyone can vote - whoever and wherever you are, children and adults alike. It’s a quick, fun way to learn more about craft.
Get curious about craft
Dafydd Powell Halls, one of our 2024 Young Craft Citizens, is working on the collections audit and has selected the objects for the vote. From space-esque ceramics, spiky glass thingymajigs, a chair shaped like a goat, a cast of someone’s head and more, there’s a panoply of ideas and materials, new ways of making alongside ancient traditions. Our audit is about understanding and sharing the full richness of what’s in the collection. Your vote will help us get to know what excites you about the collection as we embark on this journey.
Voting is open Monday 5 August to Thursday 5 September.
Scroll down this page to explore the objects and click on the images to learn more. When ready to vote, click 'submit your vote' below to take you to the voting site.
Voting is free and we don't ask for any personal data or registration, so your vote remains anonymous. Thank you for taking part and happy voting!
