Double Cloth Ikat Selvedge Denim
A 'Denim Ikat Diptych', combining the famous selvedge denim with a densely packed, hand painted double ikat in silk.
As with all previous projects, both warps are made using industry waste yarn, otherwise destined for landfill.
The selvedge denim has been dyed by hand using natural indigo, and without toxic chemicals.
These two pieces were inspired by Japanese Boro textiles, and the Japanese sentiment of 'mottainai', or 'too god to waste'.
