Indigo Dye Process
We dye all of our yarn with natural indigo from the indigofera tinctoria plant.
For the indigo pigment to fix onto the fibre, the pH must be exactly correct, and there must be no oxygen in the vat - to achieve this we use natural organic henna, and lime.
Typically in industry, denim is dyed using synthetic indigo (made of petrolium), and toxic reduction agents - which at scale, is damaging to the environment.
We try to encourage a more sustainable, ethical and responsible method of practice.
