In honour of Crafts Council Gallery’s Cotton: labour, land and body exhibition (21 September 2022 – 4 March 2023), we held a series of four talks dedicated to the ubiquitous textile. The half-day event brought together a host of notable creatives and thinkers, who discussed everything from the colonial cotton trade’s impact across the Caribbean and South Asia, to the role the material will play in our future as we face environmental crisis. Speakers included fashion designer Nicholas Daley, artist Brigid McLeer, and curator Uthra Rajgopal, to name just a few.
We’ve put all the talks together in one place so that you enjoy them at your convenience – simply scroll through the carousel below. Don’t forget that if you sign up for a Gold Crafts membership, you’ll have the chance to attend future talks in-person and for free.
